Let me tell you a little bit about myself:
My name is John Johnson, and I’m Not the person that I used to be. I grew up poor and angry, with a lot of trust issues. One day, as a teenager, my life changed, but life didn’t necessarily get easier. I had accepted Jesus into my life and was filled with something more, yet I hadn’t figured out life yet.
I’m now an adult, who is happily married with two kids, and I’ve still haven’t figured out how to navigate through this life. I have Jesus in my life but what next? Ever since I was saved I felt a higher call to help lead others. That started out rough, and I even turned my back a few time
My hopes with this blog is to help show and inspire others. To show people the transformation Jesus has done in my life, and try and tackle questions that come up. I’d like to think that these lyrics from my favorite band Showbread sums things up a bit:
“If I can be some light for you to help you find your way., just pointing at Someone bigger than me, then that would be okay. For you to know Him like I do, and even better, better still, and though the way we love you, and though we always will”
This blog isn’t meant to be a Bible thumping, how to get straight with God kinda thing, but more of an insight to my life, and how I see the world with Jesus in my life. I hope that there is a good combination of light heartening stuff and some radical theology for everyone.
Get to Know Me Better:
I feel like I’m a pretty likable guy, so you are bound to find out any of this information once you chat with me, but just for some ice breakers, I’ll through this out there.
I have hyperhidrosis – an issue that makes me excessively sweaty. Because of this I try to avoid handshakes, hand holding, and high fives. When I was younger I though it was my mutant power and I could manipulate water. In high school I was so self conscious of it I would wear gloves.
I’m afraid of being submerged in water. I don’t even like it being up to my waist. The fact that you can drown in a tablespoon of water scares me.
I’m the youth director at CenterPoint Church in Columbia Mo, as well as overseeing the social media and website for the church.
Spiderman is my all time favorite superhero and I even draw one of my life motto’s from him: “With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility” – “to whom much is given, much will be required” – Luke 12:48
I’m well rounded in fine arts and well as technology. I had a long stint of do theatre and theatre tech, and even had to hang, focus, and program the lights for a show I was in.
I have a strong opinion on politics….I’m very against federal government and believe that it is violent, deceitful and overly glorified and idolatrous. I’m not for government, however you will never see me in ski mask destroying things, because I believe in a nonviolent, nonresistant Christian Anarchy.
I’m an Ambivert – I tend to be very social and outgoing at times like an extrovert, but I don’t get charged up. I need a lot of winding down and can get overly exhausted when dealing with people. Like and introvert, I need a lot of me time.
